Earlier this year a short film entitled The Raven hit the net and it blew me away (film embedded after the jump). Now granted it wasn’t the most original short, but it was a spectacle to watch. Many have compared it to Alive in Joberg, the short film which District 9 spawned from because of the style, technology and other miscellaneous details that the film incorporated into it. It looked like a film that could easily be upgraded into a full length feature and that is exactly what has just happened. Check out more details about the short after the jump and find out who could be starring in it .
Today, Latino Review posted an article saying that Universal has got the rights to develop into a feature film. The turning point was when Mark Wahlberg came into the picture and decided that he wanted to produce the film. Not only that but he is currently in talks to star in it as well, most likely playing the lead, Chris Black. Additionally, The Raven was intended to be set up as a trilogy. I may be getting ahead of myself with that comment but I think the first film has some seroius potential to earn some cash even if some critics think it is a ripoff of District 9. Either way it has been a great year for short films and I look forward to finding out what the next steps are going to be for The Raven.
