Yeah Sean Hayes, I’m pretty dumbfounded too.
I actually really looked forward to The Three Stooges for a few years, hoping that the Farrelly Brothers could get back to their Dumb & Dumber glory by celebrating three of the greatest screen comedians ever (well, five or six depending how many of the Stooges you actually count). But then the cast of potential Stooges dropped from A-list actors (Sean Penn was to play Larry, Benicio del Toro was to play Moe, and Jim Carrey was to play Curly) to B-list actors (Johnny Knoxville or Hank Azaria as Moe and Andy Samberg as Larry) to… well, the current line-up of Sean Hayes as Larry, Will Sasso as Curly, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Yeah, if that doesn’t tell you about the quality of the script, I don’t know what does.
Then came the announcement that the cast of the Jersey Shore has a cameo in the movie, and I was just like “F it, I’ll just pop over to YouTube to check out some classic Stooges clips instead.” At this point the only thing keeping me interested in the film is seeing Larry David making a rare movie appearance as a nun. Oh and Sofia Vergara.
So I’m done with the movie. But hey, if you’re still interested you’ll be happy to know that 20th Century Fox has scheduled the film for April 4, 2012, a Wednesday, which I guess is an attempt to open the film as close to April Fool’s Day as possible. Or maybe the movie isn’t very good and Fox wants to “dump” it in April. All I know is that Alex better find someone else to review this one…
