From festival controversies to tires that have psychic abilities, this week in trailers promises diversity and originality. There have been a ton of trailers released and it was hard for me to decide which made the cut for this week’s segment. Check out some of the trailers and teasers after the jump.
Yea this shit is real and in 3D. Did you ever think you would see prehistoric piranhas in 3D? I’ll tell you right now that this movie is going to be the best piece of crap I see all year and I think everyone can agree with me on this one. Leave your thoughts on the trailer in the comments section below.
This movie has sparked a bit of controversy lately because of the amount of violence in the movie, particularly towards women. Apparently, there is a scene where Jessica Alba gets the shit kicked out of her which can definitely offend some. I for one am eager to see this film because I hear it is an amazing book and the film has translated the novel very well. Read the plot and check out the trailer.
Plot: Based on the legendary novel by pulp writer Jim Thompson, it tells the story of handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff’s deputy named Lou Ford (Casey Affleck). The film takes place in an idyllic West Texas town in the early 1950’s. As a lifelong resident, Ford has difficulty juggling his long-term girlfriend Amy (Kate Hudson), the prostitute named Joyce (Jessica Alba) that he mistakenly falls for, and the sociopathic tendencies inside him. In Thompson’s savage, bleak, blacker than noir universe nothing is ever what it seems.
Street Fighter Legacy Teaser
Ok so I really don’t know what to say about this one, another Street Fighter movie? You have got to be kidding me! I love Street Fighter and although I didn’t see the Chung Lee movie I don’t think I’ll get heat for it because I heard it was pure shit. While I think it is a bit early for another Street Fighter movie, this trailer has the appearances and movements dead on which makes me hopeful and really excited. This is one of two teasers which show Ryu and Ken preparing to fight. I’ll make my final decision about the film when a full length trailer is released. Thoughts?
UPDATE:
I found the full short film this is based off. Check it out below. It’s EPIC AND SPOT ON!!!
I don’t know much about this movie but it looks like it has the potential to be pretty good. Anton Corbijn seems to have something on his hands but I don’t think it will be anything Oscar worthy, just a very interesting thriller with a love story attached to it.
Plot: Alone among assassins, Jack (George Clooney) is a master craftsman. When a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, he vows to his contact Larry that his next assignment will be his last. Jack reports to the Italian countryside, where he holes up in a small town and relishes being away from death for a spell. The assignment, as specified by a Belgian woman, Mathilde, is in the offing as a weapon is constructed. Surprising himself, Jack seeks out the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto and pursues romance with local woman Clara. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate.
Directed by Quentin Dupieux, Rubber is the story of a tire named Robert who, after discovering a pile of burning tires, decides to avenge his people by blowing up people’s heads … like tires. This is a crazy idea but a brilliant one at that. It makes me want to make a movie about revenge using any inanimate object or pathetic creature, maybe an ant?
