This week we have two foreign movies and two american movies that will surely entice you to hit the theater this summer instead of tanning your body on the beach. Instead of writing on and on, just go check out the trailers for Red, The Tillman Story, Schemer, and Ao The Last Neanderthal right now!
Red
Synopsis: When his idyllic life is threatened by a high-tech assassin, former black-ops agent Frank Moses reassembles his old team in a last ditch effort to survive.
Red looks like a bundle of fun that seems like it should be made with Bruce, Arnold, sylvester, and Jason Stathem when they all retire form action movies. Instead we still have a fun movie about retired CIA agents but instead it stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Briand Cox, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker. Like many movies recently, this has been adapted from a graphic novel and like many graphic novel adaptations, it looks AWESOME!
The Tillman Story
Synopsis: Pat Tillman never thought of himself as a hero. His choice to leave a multimillion-dollar football contract and join the military wasn’t done for any reason other than he felt it was the right thing to do. The fact that the military manipulated his tragic death in the line of duty into a propaganda tool is unfathomable and thoroughly explored in Amir Bar-Lev’s riveting and enraging documentary.
I hope this documentary is as good as everyone says. It did great at the Sundance Film Festival but I am skeptical because it just seems like an obvious thing the government would do. Any celebrity that dies in action would be used as a propoganda tool. Even heros in the army are used as tools, think of the movie Enemy at the Gates and how Vasselli was used, it’s an inspirational tool and a recruiting tool. Anyway check the trailer out below.
Schemer
Synopsis: The haunting search to discover why fifteen-year old Jessie was murdered by her closest friends.
After a group of teenagers discover one of their friends lying dead on a river bank on one of the hottest days of summer, a story of jealousy, insecurity and peer pressure gradually unfolds. Group leader Caesar is able to magnify – out of all proportion – the small grievances that each of Jessie’s friends bear towards her and transforms them into a general and pervasive hatred that leads ultimately to her horrible, senseless killing.
I love movies like this, I hope the Dutch can pull this off successfully .
AO THE LAST NEANDERTHAL
This French movie may actually end up being good. You be the deciding factor and check out it below.
Synopsis: The epic adventures of Ao (Simon Paul Sutton), the last Neanderthal, and his passionate encounter with the beautiful Aki (Aruna Shields), one of the few Homo-Sapiens to accept and come to love him for what he is. A wonderful hunter, Ao must survive and then battles with terrifying animals of a lost world into savage landscapes. He also protects his family from the most dramatic natural phenomena. But the biggest danger is the “Hyena-Men”, clan of the Homo Sapiens that are out to kill him and his species.
