Sorry I’ve been away, folks. After a nasty run-in with something sharp, my hand is stitched up like… well Sylvester Stallone in Rambo III. And like Rambo, I performed the surgery by myself.
…Okay, that last part is a big lie. I’m not that manly, I just like manly movies. So for my return post I’m happy to once again write about Sylvester Stallone‘s two upcoming projects: Headshot and The Expendables 2. In the big news, Thomas Jane (The Punisher, The Mist) has revealed to JoBlo’s Arrow In The Head that he will be starring alongside Stallone in Headshot. Jane tells the site that “He’s a hitman, I’m a cop, and we’re just opposite in every f*cking way, and we need each other to get this job done. And of course I’m like, ‘As soon as this job’s over, I’m going to take you to jail, you know, you’re a killer.'” Ooooh dissension! Of course, we can all probably guess exactly what will happen in the film based on Jane’s plot synopsis, but does that really matter? This is a great action team!
Walter Hill (The Warriors) will direct the film, based on the script by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger). It is based on a series of French graphic novels by Alexis Nolent and Colin Wilson.
In other news, after several “Will he or won’t he?” rumors, Deadline has confirmed that Stallone is not interested in directing The Expendables 2. The film’s script has been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman based on ideas from Stallone. It’s expected that most of the original cast — including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, and Bruce Willis — will be retuning for the sequel. Now that he has more free time, former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger could likely play a larger role in the sequel, too. The Expendables 2 is set for release in August 2012.
