It’s been a rocky road for Thor 2.
First it lost its original director Patty Jenkins (Monster) over differences with Marvel — something that reportedly ticked off co-star Natalie Portman. After Jenkins’ exit, Marvel picked TV director Alan Taylor to take the director’s chair in the film, but Marvel still wasn’t happy with Don Payne‘s script (Payne was one of the many names given credit for the original movie’s story). Well according to Deadline, Thor 2 has now leaped over that hurdle: Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot) has been picked to rewrite Payne’s script. There’s still no word on what Thor comic book storylines, if any, it will be based on.
Thor 2 is set for a November 15, 2013 release and Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will definitely return, with Samuel L. Jackson likely to show up with his eyepatch at some point.
