The 2011 Toronto International Film Festival seems poised to be one of its best in recent years. Maybe it’s because I”m actually watching the trailers for a lot of the films premiering or maybe its the originality of the content that is drawing me to the projects. Either way there is some good stuff coming our way this fall including Tanya Wexler’s new film about the birth of a woman’s best friend and a man’s worst enemy, the vibrator.
A romantic comedy based on the surprising truth of how Mortimer Granville came up with the world’s first electro-mechanical vibrator in the name of medical science. Academy Award® nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy headline in this untold tale of a young Victorian doctor’s quest to figure out the key to women’s happiness. Also starring Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett and Felicity Jones.
The trailer is surprisingly good and this cheeky little rom-com could possibly be the first one of its kind that I’m actually looking forward to seeing. Check out the trailer below to find out what a vaginal revolution might have looked like in the UK back in the late 1800s. Oh, do be sure to let us know what you think of it in the comments section.
