Earlier, I posted a short little clip of some footage from the upcoming Judge Dredd reboot, Dredd, and mentioned that a full trailer would be online soon. Well get ready to be judged because after watching this trailer featuring Karl Urban, you will be wondering what the hell happened to the 1995 version.
If you are a fan of the comic series, then you will be very pleased with what you are about to watch. This version of Judge Dredd is much more along the lines of the comic series, since creator John Wagner was on-site for the production of this one.
During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.
If the trailer is any indication of what the entire film will look like, I think fans will be very pleased with this reboot and to see that justice was served in this version.
DREDD will become the law on September 21st.
