Probably the most curious thing about the teaser trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn (which Graham covered here!) is that whoever cut it made a seemingly deliberate effort to use shots which obscure much of the characters’ faces. Of course, many people have complained about the inherent “creepiness” of the faces of the “actors” as result of the motion capture technology used in films like Tintin. Could the film’s marketing people be actively trying to hide the faces of the characters to curtail (perhaps premature) criticism of the motion capture creepiness? The latest image released to promote the film certainly gives credence to that theory, as it only shows half of Tintin’s face:
The image looks fantastic, but I’ll need to see the whole thing moving in order to be the best judge of that.
The Adventures of Tintin is directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson, featuring the voices of Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Cary Elwes, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It’s set for a December 23 release in the United States, two months after it debuts in the UK.
