Tony Jaa has officially been released from his contract with Sahamongkol which means that he can finally take on international projects (cue dancing in the streets)!
The first film we will see is a pic titled A Man Will Rise (originally titled Local Hero) which will star Jaa alongside the one and only Dolph Lundgren as a villain, a hit man cowboy, with Conan Stevens, David Ismalone and Jakkrit Kanokpodjananon supporting them. A handful of behind the scenes stills were released this week and while Lundgren looks hilarious, it’s nice to see Jaa back to work, and the two should pair up for a pretty decent action/comedy. What would be awesome is if we get a flick along the lines of The Good, The Bad, The Weird, because that would just make life so much better. Check out the stills and synopsis below and tack this one to your films to keep track of list because I suspect we’ll get to see it sometime early next year.
The film is an action film with comedy elements set in 1950’s Thailand. A local gangster terrorizes a town. When a young local man stands up to the gangster the villain brings in a group of foreign hit men who like to dress as cowboys to pacify the town. Ultimately only one man can rise up to bring them down and save the town.
