Just when you think that big screen interpretations of William Shakespeare’s classic plays have been done and done again, that’s when another one is set to hit theaters. This time, Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator and The Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon has brought in some familiar faces for a modern take on the comedy about love and its different interpretations by use of witty banter, Much Ado About Nothing.
Buffy alums Amy Acker (as Beatrice) and Alexis Denisof (as Benedick) star in the movie with Reed Diamond (TV’s Franklin & Bash), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), Nathan Fillion (TV’s Castle), and newcomer Jillian Morgese.
While staying true to the masterful dialogue, the black-and-white movie takes places in modern day Santa Monica and was actually filmed at Whedon’s home residence over the course of 12 days. The film was seen by attendees at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, and is set for release in the United States on June 21st.
