It’s been years since writer/director Alfonso Cuarón graced us with a new film. His last full length feature is one of the best (and one of my favorite) sci-fi film’s out there, Children of Men. After many delays and an immense amount of anticipation, the Mexican auteur’s new film, Gravity, finally has a trailer and not only is it stunning but it’s also completely gripping.
The film stars to major box office draws, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, as astronauts who get disconnected from their ship and must find away to survive in the desolate black abyss known as space. This will likely not be a sci-fi epic like some might expect but it sure as hell will be a compelling film that fans of Cuarón will eat up. This is an instance where big stars give an indie treatment except the difference is that there is a large budget to back it up which will make for an interesting combination and one that I hope mainstream audiences will appreciate.
Take a look at the trailer below and be ready to react.
Is that not an awe-inspiring trailer? I mean seriously, it’s beautiful, riveting and gives absolutely nothing away. No crazy twists are revealed just the basic plot and then a chilling conclusion all to a fantastic score. If you aren’t excited about this one yet you should be. Gravity is set to hit theaters in 2D, 3D and 3D IMAX on October 19th.
What did you think of the trailer? Do you think it’ll blow minds and be an Oscar contender this year?
