Michelle Williams (My Week with Marilyn) is all the talk right now, what with her third Academy Award nomination, but her successful run on the big screen is continuing in Sarah Polley’s Take This Waltz, which also stars a svelte looking Seth Rogen (50/50), Sarah Silverman (The Muppets), and Luke Kirby (Labor Pains).
The movie follows Margo (Williams), a married woman falls for her artist neighbor (Kirby) across the street. The trailer shows a very rare and serious side to Rogen, who plays Williams’ on-screen husband and Silverman, his sister in the movie. The movie first caught the attention of critics when it debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last year.
Polley (Away From Her) also wrote the film, which Slash Film describes with this plot summary: “When Margot, 28, meets Daniel, their chemistry is intense and immediate. But Margot suppresses her sudden attraction: she is happily married to Lou, a celebrated cookbook writer. When Margot learns that Daniel lives across the street from them, the certainty about her domestic life shatters. She and Daniel steal moments throughout the steaming Toronto summer, their eroticism heightened by their restraint. Margot finally gives in to desire and in doing so, discovers some unsettling truths about herself. Swelteringly hot, bright and colorful like a bowl of fruit, Take This Waltz leads us, laughing, through the familiar but uncharted question of what long-term relationships do to love, sex, and our images of ourselves.”
The website also compared to the narrative-style trailer to something along the lines of Lost in Translation, showing the indie side to Williams in a playful, yet seductive role.
In addition, Williams has already won Best Actress in a Canadian Film from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle. The movie will premiere with limited release on June 29th. Take a look at the trailer for Take This Waltz below and tell us what you think!
