It’s crazy to think that if you make a fake trailer for a movie that it could actually be turned into a full length feature. That’s the power of living in today’s digitized society and that’s what happened to the fake trailer turned real feature film Clown, thanks to producer Eli Roth and his interest in the project.
Directed by Jon Watts, Clown is about a father (Andy Powers) who puts on a clown suit for his son’s birthday when the original clown doesn’t show and soon finds out the suit is cursed when he is unable to take it off. Soon the costume takes an evil hold, slowly transforming him into an evil clown hell bent on luring children to their deaths.
Word to the wise, if you don’t like clowns or watching kids being attacked by them then I suggest not clicking play on the trailer. If you want to scare your children then definitely show them this film when it’s released as I’m sure it’ll do the trick. For everyone else who isn’t afraid of clowns, check out the real trailer and fake trailers below.
The mythology behind the killing/capturing of children in Clown reminds me a lot of the mythology behind the Christmas horror film Saint (aka Sint), which is completely fine with me as long as its entertaining.
And here is the original fake trailer that got Roth’s attention.
