After much hype and anticipation, the trailer for the Green Lantern has finally hit. The film stars Ryan Reynolds in the titular role alongside Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, and Tim Robbins.
Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), a director known for his ability to craft entertaining action thrillers, is diverging a bit from his normal path with this CGI intensive film, something he hasn’t really worked with yet so it should be interesting to see how he translates this popular DC comic book hero to the big screen.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the CG costume, it just looks too fake in certain parts for my taste and Reynolds actually looks a bit goofy in it if you ask me. Also, I was actually amazed me how quickly Blake Lively’s one line in the trailer ruined the opening of it for me. But if you put all these petty displeasures to the side, the trailer gets the story across rather well and even showcases some of the other Green Lanterns, who actually look better than Reynolds if you ask me. All we can hope for is that the execution will be on a scale we could not have imagined and pray that this isn’t the poor man’s version of Iron Man. With a lot missing from this trailer I still remain excited and can’t wait for this super space adventure next summer.
Synopsis:
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.
Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
Green Lantern hits theaters next summer on July 17th.
