If there is one thing you should know about me it’s that I love movies where teenagers go out and kill people. I find it highly entertaining which is why I love movies like Battle Royale and Kick-Ass. Is thar weird? Perhaps. But you can’t say you didn’t like those movies, if you saw them that is. Well, Joe Wright, director of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement, has decided to take a crack at the thriller genre with his new movie Hanna, a film about a 14 year old girl who was raised to be an assassin. It sounds a bit like the result of Natalie Portman’s role in Leon: The Professional, doesn’t it?
The film stars Saoirse Ronan, Eric Banna, and Cate Blanchett as the child assassin, her father, and the woman she was born to kill. The trailer itself is cool, stylish, surprising, and can even throw you for a loop at times. I highly recommend you check it out after the jump and let us know what you think in the comments section below it.
Award-winning director Joe Wright creates a boldly original suspense thriller with HANNA, starring Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones, Atonement) in the title role.
Raised by her father (Eric Bana of Star Trek), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland, Hanna’s upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
