Movie Buzzers just reported this week about the image released of Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) in costume for Hitchcock, the film about the making of 1960’s Psycho starring Anthony Hopkins (Thor) as the legendary director of suspense. Johansson plays Psycho’s ill-fated leading lady, Janet Leigh, whose portrayal of a murdered Marion Crane in the shower is one of the most iconic scenes in all of movie history.
The trailer is finally here and it’s as riveting as one would expect, considering the caliber of Hitchcock’s resume and all-star cast in front of the camera. It’s also exciting to see Hopkins opposite his on-screen wife, Helen Mirren (Red 2), who is just as valuable a player in the production of Psycho as its director.
Director Sacha Gervasi (The Terminal) brings John McLaughlin’s script to life, based on the novel by Stephen Rebello. McLaughlin, the scribe behind Black Swan, is certainly a good match for tackling suspenseful subject matter and Hitchcock, as seen in the trailer below.
One disappointing note is that although Johansson is always alluring to watch on screen, Psycho’s supporting starlet, Vera Miles, who is played by Jessica Biel (Total Recall) in Hitchcock, is only seen in a flash of the trailer. Perhaps as time creeps closer to the film’s premiere, we’ll be able to see alternate versions of this thrilling movie.
What do you think of the movie’s first trailer? Are you a fan of Hitchcock? What do you think of this sneak peek at the making-of Psycho?
