Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) can be seen next in One Day alongside Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), a romantic drama. IMDB gives us this plotline for the tear-jerker film: “After spending the night together on the night of their college graduation Dexter and Em are revisited each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. They are sometimes together, sometimes not, on that day.”
Directed by Lone Sherfig (An Education), and adapted by David Nicholls (Starter for 10) based on his book, the movie also stars Patricia Clarkson (Shutter Island), Romola Garai (Atonement), and Jamie Sives (Get Him to the Greek).
I was really excited after I saw this trailer, recalling the internal hopeless romantic that I am which made me love the can-they?-or-can’t-they? romance of Nicholas Sparks stories like The Notebook or Dear John. Then I realized that One Day looks like a more serious, British version of A Lot Like Love (the awkward comedy which starred Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet back in 2005). Also, after reading this blog from The Guardian, I noticed that there’s a whole lot of spoiler exposition in this new official trailer for One Day.
Scroll down for some images, as well as the trailer from the movie set for an August 19th release.
Take a look for yourselves at the trailer and let us know what you think? Does Hathaway pass for a British chick? Would you follow her on-screen romance with Sturgess based on this representation?
