Face it, after Ryan Dunn‘s death there was major concern that the Jackass crew would call it quits. Even besides that, after a lengthy television series, three theatrical released movies, three “.5” direct to DVD movies, and many spinoff shows those guys have probably taken more punishment than any group of humans could ever expect to take. There have been a feel mentions of a fourth Jackass movie, but nothing in the way of concrete information from the boys beyond “maybe someday.”
So while Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa isn’t Jackass 4, from the looks of the trailer it’s a hilariously welcome holdover until we get that. In it, Johnny Knoxville takes his infamous “Bad Grandpa” character Irving Zisman on a prank-filled journey that seems more reminiscent of a narrative movie Borat than the reality skit style of the other Jackass movies.
But if the movie is as hysterical as the trailer indicates, who cares what format it’s in?
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa also stars Jackson Nicoll as Zisman’s eight year-old grandson, Billy. It was directed by Jackass co-creator and director of choice, Jeff Tremaine. It was written by Knoxville, Tremaine, and fellow Jackass co-creator Spike Jonze. It will be released on October 25. Check out the trailer below. I certainly hope the people having the wedding and the funeral were in on the jokes beforehand!
