Another week, another great bunch of trailers. This week we will be jumping all over the place from Channing Tatum stripping to the sweet and innocent Emily Blunt being, well, sweet and innocent. So grab your one dollar bills as we get ready to make this group of trailers dance.
First up we have Steven C. Miller’s The Aggression Scale which features Ray Wise, Derek Mears and Dana Ashbrook. The film is a unique take on the home invasion thriller with two teenagers confronting some heavily armed bad guys who are looking for stolen cash, leading to a bloody battle of wits and will. Basically if you were to take Home Alone and give it an R rating, you would get The Aggression Scale. The film premiered during SXSW this year, unfortunately I was unable to make a screening of it, but I have heard great things about the film.
The Aggression Scale will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD May 29, 2012.
Next lets move over to something less violent and a little bit more Rom Com. Mark Duplass is gradually becoming a indie film phenomenon with Safety Not Guaranteed and Darling Companion making its rounds in the festival circuit, there is another film that we should be on the look out for and that is Your Sister’s Sister. The film also stars Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt in this sweet and funny comedy about a man who is grieving over the death of his brother, sleeps with his best friend’s sister and has to figure out how to handle the situation and how it will affect his friendship with her.
Your Sister’s Sister hits theaters June 15, 2012.
I know you are getting anxious to see Channing Tatum strip, but we have one other trailer before we get to that and while it doesn’t have Channing, it does feature Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria. The Baytown Disco, directed by Barry Battles, is a strange film as three redneck brothers agree to help a woman save her son from an abusive father and they become targets on the run from an odd cast of characters. I’m still not sure how i feel about this film but it looks like it has potential to be a very fun, low expectation film.
The Baytown Disco is still looking for distribution so there is no release date at this time.
Now the moment all the ladies and maybe some men have been waiting for, Channing Tatum doing what he used to do best, STRIPPING. Based on his real life (I’m not making that up) Tatum plays the role of Mike who is a male stripper and takes a young dancer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money. The film is directed by Steven Soderbergh and I still don’t even know what the hell I just watched. Clearly this is a film for women but it does feature an Academy Award winning directer as well as Matthew McConaughey, so who knows.
Magic Mike shakes his way into theaters June 29th.. God Help Us!
