On this episode of Trailer Madness we are jumping all over the film genre world. Most of these films will need little introduction, so lets get started!
First up is the latest trailer for Rob Zombies next featured film The Lords of Salem. The film has been lacking in the marketing aspect, however I see it picking up soon and we’ll likely start to see more and more about it. Here’s a brief run down of the film: a radio DJ gets a strange package with a song inside, titled The Lords. Without knowing anything else about the song, it makes its was onto the air and becomes an instant hit. However, it seems this song has awoken the true Lords (which end up being Witches) that were persecuted and killed back during the Salem Witch trials and they are back to seek revenge. There have been a few stills and character shots released for the film and over all it looks like what you would expect from a Zombie directed film.
The Lords of Salem hits theaters early 2013. It recently made its debut during the Toronto International Film Festival this year and received mostly positive responses.
Next, we have Jason Statham doing what he does best, kicking ass and protecting people, in Parker. The funny thing about Statham films is that they just seem to come out of nowhere and while they are never box office smashes, they are usually pretty damn entertaining and it seems Parker will follow the same mold. Statham plays a thief with a unique code of professional ethics (SHOCKER!) is double-crossed by his crew and left for dead. Assuming a new disguise and forming an unlikely alliance with a woman (Jennifer Lopez) on the inside, he looks to hijack the score of the crew’s latest heist.
Parker is set for a January 25, 2013 release.
This third film is probably one of the greatest things I have seen in a while from the Drafthouse team. A movie about movie trailers! But not just any trailers, those awesomely bad trailers that are shown before the films at the Alamo Drafthouses that make you scratch your head and think WTF WAS THAT! The film is titled Trailer War and if you are into B and even C grade films and maybe even a few D’s and F’s then you need to check this out.
Trailer War is actually available for Pre-order here for a December 18th release. You will also receive a digital download, DVD/Blu Ray of the film and more depending on the package you purchase. I’m not sure if the film will actually have a theatrical release, however I wouldn’t be surprised if The Alamo does a special screening or events for the film in the near future.
Finally, the last trailer we have today is the strange comedy team of Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in The Guilt Trip. I have no idea how this casting came to be but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would see these two in a film together. I’m not really sure about the plot of the film as it seems a bit bland but the trailer is entertaining for the most part. The Guilt trip is about an inventor (Rogen) who goes on a road trip with him mom (Streisand) in hopes of pitching and selling his latest invention.
Like I said, it might seem funny trailer wise, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this film was a total flop and fail with it’s comedic aspect. The Guilt Trip hits theaters December 25, 2012.
