When I visited the wonderful city of Kuala Lumpar, I didn’t get any sense that gangs existed there, but I guess that’s what makes a movie a movie, right? Actor/director Syamsul Yusof brings his skills to the screen once again in what looks like a very high octane action flick called KL Gangster.
Synopsis: “KL Gangster” tells the tale of two brothers who get involved in the world of gangsterism. The older brother Malek (Aaron Aziz) was imprisoned for five years after being betrayed by his own gang which was started by Shark the step brother of the most influential gangster in Kuala Lumpur, King . Malek who leads a normal life after being released, is pulled back into the world he left behind after all those years. Especially since his younger brother Jai is influenced by the gangsters and decides to work for Shark bringing everything down in chaos.”
In the trailer below, you’ll find a ton of flying kicks, even more fast and heavy punches, and a bit of dialogue that you won’t understand unless you speak Malay. The movie looks like a really fun time and seems to be on the same level as all those Thai action films I have come to love. Check out the trailer and be sure to let us know what you think of it in the comments section.
KL Gangster just opened in Malaysia on June 9th and stars Aaron Aziz, Syamsul Yusof, Zizan Raja Lawak, Adi Putra, Sofi Jikan, and Sheera Iskandar dan Ridzuan Hashim. Maybe we’ll get lucky and have an opportunity to view it here in the states.
