If you ask me, Matthew Vaughn can do no wrong. The man behind the first Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class ditched Days of Future Past to re-team with Mark Millar again, this time for a fast paced and exciting spy movie called Kingsman: The Secret Service. When the two teamed up previously for Kick-Ass the results were spectacular, and with Vaughn adapting Millar’s latest work, we’re guaranteed for a hit, especially since this one stars The King’s Speech Oscar winner Colin Firth in the lead role.
Yeah, exactly, Firth in an action role seems pretty questionable and, even after watching the trailer I’m still a little unsure how I feel about it, but one thing is for sure, you can tell the guy is having a blast in this outing, and with the way Vaughn shoots and cuts his films you can expect a fast-paced, intense, and funny action-thriller. Firth stars alongside other greats like Michael Caine, Samuel L. Jackson and Taron Egerton, the kid Firth’s character is training.
Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn, Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
It’s a pretty simple plot but one that’s perfect for Vaughn. How perfect you ask? Check out the trailer below and find out for yourself. I suspect this will be another one of those cool-as-$h1t British films with sweet twists.
Kingsman: The Secret Service hits theaters on October 24th. If you’re going to SDCC I bet you’ll get a preview screening or at least a solid taste of this while you’re there.
