Move over Jennifer Aniston and Hugh Grant! Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau) are paving a new way for a hit romantic comedy, with an emphasis on comedy! I’m talking about the new movie The Five-Year Engagement, about the trials of an engaged couple who are preparing for marriage, but life keeps throwing their plans a curveball.
Segel not only stars in the movie, but also co-wrote the script with The Muppets partner, director Nicholas Stoller. After such success with The Muppets, how can the duo go wrong, especially with such a stellar comedic turn for Blunt, one that we haven’t seen since her co-starring role in The Devil Wears Prada back in 2006.
Also starring in the film are familiar faces like Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation), Rhys Ifans (Pirate Radio), Alison Brie (Scream 4), Mindy Kaling (The Office), and Kevin Hart (Little Fockers).
The Five-Year Engagement doesn’t hit theaters until April 27th 2012, but the trailer below will certainly serve up plenty of laughs! Check it out and share what you think! Do you think Blunt and Segel make a good on-screen couple? Would you see this film?
