I love Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) so whenever he has a prominent role in a film I’m going to be there watching it. When I saw that he had a new movie called Someone Marry Barry, written and directed by Rob Pearlstein, I knew I’d be in for something outrageous, stupid and chock full of laughs once I read what the film was about and that he was playing an immature adult, a role he excels at.
In this hilarious romantic comedy, a trio of childhood friends schemes to find a wife for their socially inappropriate pal Barry (Tyler Labine, “Monsters University”). Their plan completely backfires when his new girlfriend Melanie (Lucy Punch, “Bad Teacher”), turns out to be just like him. The raunchy comedy features Damon Wayans Jr. (“Happy Endings”) and Hayes MacArthur (“Bachelorette”).
I’ve already seen the film and thought it was very funny and highly enjoyable even if Barry and Melanie can get annoying in large doses. I might be biased because I think Tyler Labine can do no wrong but if you like R-rated comedies with ridiculous dialogue then Someone Marry Barry should be right up your alley.
Check out the trailer below, which gives you a good sense of the stupidity and outrageousness of it all, and if you like it be sure to catch it when it’s released.
Someone Marry Barry hits select theaters on February 7th and will be available on various VOD outlets starting February 13th.
