Okay, I strongly encourage you to watch the new trailer for the Evil Dead remake. Even if you hate the idea of a remake of the 1981 low-budget classic directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell, you’ll quickly realize from watching this trailer that the remake is a completely different take on the original story — one that is full of the quality bloody, disturbing effects that producers Raimi, Campbell, and Robert Tapert (who are also producing this remake) couldn’t hope of affording back then. This is a lot like the trailer Alex posted in October, but almost twice as long.
What I don’t recommend is watching the trailer at work — which is what I did. That’s because about a minute of the two and a half minute trailer is full of screams and I’m pretty sure at least one of my coworkers thought I was in the process of murdering someone.
But with all that aside, I think Evil Dead will be the horror film of the year if the rest of the film is anything like this trailer. The remake stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, and Lou Taylor Pucci. It was directed by Fede Álvarez and is set for an April release.
