Looks like Robert Redford has gone and got himself lost at sea as he graces the big screen in the intriguing looking drama All Is Lost. Redford, who has slowed down some what over the last few years on screen (understandably so as he approaches 80) to focus more behind the camera looks set to wow fans and critics alike in this seemingly personal and somber film that sees him lost at sea after his boat hits a stray shipping container. He has to work hard to repair the damage but ultimately we see he has to abandon ship and try to survive on a life raft (as is the case in all great lost at sea films), while battling with the unforgiving sun, dwindling supplies and ever-curious sharks circling his raft.
While we don’t see too much, we see enough to know that Redford is likely to give a masterful performance and the question to end all questions is being asked, is this Robert Redford’s year? That is of course relating to the fact that Redford, in all of his years in cinema, with all of his great success, has never won an Oscar – excluding his Lifetime Achievement Award – but early calls are being made that Redford could be once again tipped at the very least for that little golden man.
