Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live), Maya Rudolph (Away We Go), Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly), Rose Byrne (Insidious), Elie Kemper (The Office), and Wendy McLendon-Covy (Rules of Engagement). The unlikely oddball combination of women gather to celebrate the newly engaged Rudolph on a very Hangover-like adventure.
Also in the movie is John Hamm (Mad Men) as Wiig’s friend-with-benefits, as well as the late Jill Clayburgh (Love & Other Drugs) in her final on-screen appearance. We see a little more from Hamm’s character Ted in the R-rated, hysterical Red Band trailer from The Improper. Not to mention another trailer, courtesy of Cinema Blend, which shows more about Wiig’s character as a single woman stuck in awkward situations.
I still say that McCarthy is the one to watch in Bridesmaids, in a very Zach Galifianakis kind of way. Although one of the trailers says that the film is going to be released in June, IMDB still lists its premiere as May 13th, which makes sense since we’re already seeing advertising for it on American television.
The movie’s director, Paul Feig, also Freaks & Geeks writer, can next be seen in a small role in Bad Teacher, while Wiig is wrapping up her latest season as an SNL regular. Also, Byrne’s role in X-Men: First Class is currently in post-production. It appears that Hamm has also just wrapped with Wiig and Rudolph on Friends with Kids, which also stars Megan Fox and Edward Burns.

Are you interested in seeing anything about this unconventional chick flick? Do you think it will succeed in light of the Golden Globe winning The Hangover?
