Two years ago we thought Darren Aronofsky’s next film would be The Wolverine but unfortunately things didn’t pan out. Though, despite that letdown, the big studios still wanted to get their hands on the talented and stylistic director and instead signed Aronofsky to write and direct an adaptation of the famed biblical story of Noah and the Ark. With a ton of money at his disposal and a reputation for making (mostly) fantastic films, Aronofsky was able to sign Russell Crowe to play Noah, Ray Winstone as the villain, and Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins in supporting roles for what would likely be a film to be remembered.
Fast forward to yesterday and the first trailers for the film, titled Noah, were released and they are as good as one would expect them to be, simply beautiful. The international trailer sets the tone for the film and provides a solid look at how Winstone’s characters plans on ruining Noah’s plans as well as giving us a general idea of where the other characters stand as well.
I cannot wait to see what this film looks like on the big screen because you know it’s going to be a compelling spectacle. What excites me the most is to see how Aronofsky handles such a large budget and how he uses this newfound money to craft this biblical film in ways similar to those of his smaller indie films.
For those of you that don’t know the story, back in biblical times Noah had a vision from God in which he saw a great flood destroy life on earth. It became Noah’s mission to build an ark to protect the innocent and save a pair of every animal known to exist so that life could begin anew once the storm ended.
Enough of me now, check out the international trailer below or head over to Apple to check out the domestic version in HD.
