Just the other day I was talking to Alex about how there have been so many “Something Vs. Something” movies lately, and inevitably we’re going to end up with some ridiculous combinations. I thought we had already gotten there with Strippers Vs. Werewolves, but now that seems like it is the top of the barrel compared to… ready? Boy Scouts Versus Zombies!
Yes, according to TwitchFilm the script — which was on the Black List, so it’s got to be good — will be directed by Etan Cohen, who co-wrote Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder, and the upcoming Men in Black III, which will be the first feature he’s ever directed. The premise sounds like gold — a group of Girl Scouts are besieged by zombies and it’s up to a troop of Boy Scouts to save them. It seems like ripe ground for parody of the recent “versus” movies. The script was originally written by Carrie Evans and Emi Mochizuki (who co-wrote College Road Trip), but Cohen and former Simpsons writer Lona Williams are working on a new draft.
While this sounds like fun, as a former Boy Scout (I’m actually an Eagle Scout), I can assure you that there is no merit badge for Zombie Survival, so we can cut the jokes out now. However, the Scout motto is “Be Prepared,” and as we all know there’s nothing we need to be prepared for more than battling zombies.
