We haven’t reported much on Jurassic World, the new title for Jurassic Park 4, around these parts because much of what has been revealed has been mostly hearsay and no one could say with near certainty that certain actors have been cast in the film. It seems as if that’s changing now for the Colin Trevorrow directed sequel as it is being reported that 12 year old Ty Simpkins has been selected for a lead role in the highly anticipated film.
You may not know Simpkins’ name but you’ve definitely seen him around in big films and in a variety genres, from movies like War of the Worlds and Insidious to Iron Man 3 and Revolutionary Road. Though this isn’t official yet, Deadline is seems to be pretty confident that he has snagged the role and I’m feeling confident enough that I’m writing about it. I’m curious as to what exactly his role will entail of if he’ll be a character similar in nature to all the kids in the Jurassic Park films.
Other names in contention for the film or have been long rumored are Jake Johnson (New Girl, Drinking Buddies), who starred in Safety Not Guaranteed, the film that got Trevorrow the directing gig, and Bryce Dallas Howard, who I hope does not get selected, I personally am not a fan of her, except in The Help, she was great in that.
That’s it for now, stay tuned for new details on Jurassic World as more get unveiled.
