For a company that was started this past January, Ubisoft Motion Pictures has just announced a hefty load of video games they plan on bringing to the big screens.
According to Variety, Ubisoft plans on making 3D featured film versions of Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.
Division head over at UMP, Jean-Julien Baronnet, said they have been working with the games’ producers and Ubisoft’s marketing team to identify the DNA of each game and come up with storylines that are consistent with the company’s three biggest franchises.
“Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises — that’s why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games’ primary target audience,”
said Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution.
“We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we’re open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script.”
De Rivieres also said they should have a script done by the end of the year and will travel to Los Angeles in June to meet with different studios.
UMP is also developing a 3D CGI series based on the game, Raving Rabbids and will consist of 78 episodes lasting around 9 minutes each. No word yet on who will distribute the series or where the series will be available.
