If you’re a fan of Gerard Butler’s romantic comedies, like The Ugly Truth or P.S. I Love You, then get ready for his latest turn, opposite Jessica Biel (Valentine’s Day) and Uma Thurman (Ceremony) in Playing the Field. Hit the jump to find out more details on this recently announced project!
According to Variety, Butler will be starring “as a former pro soccer player who finds himself dodging romantic advances from soccer moms after he agrees to coach his son’s youth team in an attempt to bond with the boy.”
In addition, “Biel will play Butler’s ex-wife, while Thurman will play a fellow parent. Butler is producing with his Evil Twins partner Alan Siegel, as well as Jonathan Mostow, Kevin Misher and Heidi Jo Markel. Nu Image/Millennium’s Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short are exec producing the pic, which is scheduled to start production next month.”
IMDB reveals this playful storyline for the film: “A former professional athlete with a weak past tries to redeem himself by coaching his son’s soccer team, only to find himself unable to resist when in scoring position with his players’ restless and gorgeous moms.”
The movie will be directed by Gabriele Muccino (Seven Pounds) and the script has been penned by So I Married an Axe Murderer writer Robbie Fox.
Butler and Thurman can be seen together next in Movie 43, an ensemble segmented comedy. As for Biel, she is currently filming New Year’s Eve, and awaits a release date for her romantic comedy opposite Jake Gyllenhaal (Love & Other Drugs) called Nailed.
