The buzz surrounding Gwyneth Paltrow’s new film Country Strong is growing more and more as we get closer to the film’s release date. Along with all the press functions that we see with Paltrow and her co-stars, Leighton Meester, Garrett Hedlund, and Tim McGraw, what’s most exciting is all the music emerging on the web, including the duets! Hit the jump to watch the videos!
Yahoo! has this video for “Me & Tennessee,” a duet between Paltrow and McGraw, featuring a slew of images from the movie, showcasing the love triangles and emotional clashes between the four leads. My only qualm with this is that there is nothing to show the two actor/singers performing together, even if it wasn’t featured in the movie. Seeing their chemistry during a performance for the video would have been a nice addition.
The website also provides us with a video for “Summer Girl,” which is Meester’s youthful and successful attempt at stealing Paltrow’s musical thunder. If it wasn’t currently December, perhaps this song would be perfect for your next summer soundtrack. Hedlund’s own ditty, “Chances Are,” sounds like a genuine country song, not one written for the film, also awaiting mass radio appeal. We know that Meester is already a singer, but the most provocative and certainly my favorite of all the videos is their duet for “Give In,” which only appears on the soundtrack sung by McGraw’s wife, Faith Hill, who is not in the film. Take a look at the videos with both exciting and intimate clips from the movie. You can find the rest of them over at yahoo.com.
Courtesy of YouTube, here we have a few extra videos of songs from the film’s soundtrack, including Meester singing “Words I Couldn’t Say,” originally recorded by Rascal Flatts, as well as Paltrow’s Golden Globe nominated track “Coming Home.”
The film opened in Nashville on November 8 and to limited release in the United States on December 22. The national premiere will be on January 7, 2011 and won’t hit the UK and Germany until next spring and summer.
