Didn’t MGM declare bankruptcy last year? I’m only asking because although MGM did get the James Bond films back on track, The Hobbit films on track, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo rights, it seems like the company has been making some moves that don’t seem to be big potential moneymakers, like yesterday’s acquisition of the film rights to Where’s Waldo? Now, according to Deadline, MGM is negotiating to buy Killer Pizza, a script written by Adam Green (Hatchet — read Brandon’s review here!) based on the preteen novel by Greg Taylor about “a 14-year old boy who lands a summer job at a pizza joint that is actually a front for a monster hunting enterprise.”
Deadline reports that MGM is considering the script as a “Gremlins and Goonies-type” movie, which sounds good, but probably hard to pull off in a kid’s film these days. It certainly could end up being a fun film in the vein of Monster Squad, but we’ll have to wait and see what transpires.
