Now this ought to be a good team!
Sylvester Stallone e-mailed Ain’t It Cool News to reveal that Walter Hill will be in the director’s chair for Stallone’s Headshot. Hill may not be a household name, but the list of films he has worked on speaks for itself: not only did he direct Hard Times, The Driver, 48 Hrs., and one of my all-time personal favorites, The Warriors, but he also wrote those films along with Aliens and Alien 3. In fact, in his e-mail Stallone reveals that he and Hill almost worked together in The Driver and 48 Hrs., but it didn’t work out. No matter — Stallone and Hill are finally working together on a project that will take advantage of both of their expertise! Wayne Kramer (Crossing Over, Running Scared, The Cooler) was originally set to direct the film, but reportedly Stallone and Kramer could not agree on the film’s direction.
The film’s script is by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger) and is based on a series of French graphic novels by Alexis Nolent and Colin Wilson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone will star as a New Orleans hitman who partners up with an NYPD detective “in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of Washington, D.C. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.” Though the film is set to start shooting in May, there’s been no word on the rest of the cast.
Okay, opinion time: isn’t The Warriors one of the best “New York” films ever, or do we always have to give those accolades to Woody Allen or Scorsese films? Give us your thoughts in the comments below!
