Movie Buzzers has already given readers four articles on the highly anticipated fourth installment of the Scream franchise, but news has just come out that director Wes Craven is continuing production on the film due out April 15th of this year. Not only this, but avid fans of the series can enjoy yet another movie poster! Hit the jump for more details!
Scream survivors Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette return with a slew of new faces like Emma Roberts (It’s Kind of a Funny Story) and Hayden Panettiere (I Love You Beth Cooper), under Craven’s direction. The Washington Times claims “the movie hopes to re-start the stalled franchise for a new generation of genre fans. The series got plenty of mileage out of its meta moments – commenting on the state of the modern horror film while supplying the requisite gore and more.”
Also, the website gives us this plotline, straight from the studio behind Scream 4: “Sidney Prescott (Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (Arquette) and Gale (Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately, Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.”
Entertainment Weekly revealed that Craven returned to the Michigan set, and then he tweeted, “Getting you more to #SCREAM 4.” Among his tweets, he also posted this picture of Alison Brie (Community) who plays Rebecca, another seemingly innocent pretty-faced victim, courtesy of Movie Web. In addition to Brie, actress Aimee Teagarden (Friday Night Lights) who plays Trudie also tweeted her return to Michigan for production.
The new poster, also courtesy of Movie Web, continues with the theme for Scream 3’s poster
back in 2000. Mark your calendars for April 15th and keep checking back with us for more updates on the film!
