The news behind the teenage assassin action movie, Violet & Daisy, has been pretty sparse, until now! According to Deadline, Wild Bunch has acquired the international rights for the film, which first made a work-in-progress appearance at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
The movie stars Saoirse Ronan (Hanna), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls), James Gandolfini (Cinema Verite), Danny Trejo (Machete), and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets & Lies). Ronan and Bledel play the young assassins “who face off against a series of adversaries,” including a mysterious Gandofini.
This is the directorial debut for Precious writer Geoffrey Fletcher, who also co-produced with Bonnie Timmerman (Georgia Rule). The Hollywood Reporter reports that Vincent Maraval of Wild Bunch said, “We fell in love with Violet & Daisy when it screened as a work-in-progress at Toronto. The film is so unusual and unique and we’re excited to be a part of it.”
Hopefully soon this means that Violet & Daisy will finally receive a release date. The film’s IMDB page only attaches 2011, but no actual date.
