It looks like Darren Aronofsky, director of Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream, has finally decided to let a little bit of information out regarding the upcomingX-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel. Hitfix recently sat down with Aronofsky and Nathalie Portman to discuss Black Swan but during their interview Wolverine had to come up at some point. Hit the jump to find out the new title along with the direction Aronofsky plans on taking with this unconventional sequel.
The film that he’s directing is officially called “The Wolverine,” and there won’t be a number attached to it. In our interview, he referred to the movie as a “one-off,” and he emphasized that the film isn’t a sequel in any conventional sense.
I like the name but, even more so, I like the change in style and direction that has been alluded to. Darren is a director with a unique vision so the fact that he is taking a whole new approach to the film, the franchise, and the most popular character as whole will result, in what I think will be, a visual treat for moviegoers of all ages.
What do you think of the name choice and change of pace? Do you think Aronofsky is too artsy for a film of this caliber? Let us know in the comments section below.
