What better way to celebrate Christmas or a post-apocalyptic earth then with a post-apocalyptic film about zombies! Paramount Pictures has announced that Marc Forster‘s World War Z will hit theaters December 21, 2012, unless the Mayans are correct and the world does end.
This is an interesting date because the month of December is pretty jam packed as it is with potentially big blockbusters. World War Z will be going head to head with Disney’s The Lone Ranger, Ang Lee‘s Life of Pi, Judd Apatow‘s This is Forty and also a film called Hunter Killer. If that doesn’t seem like a handful, then let’s go ahead and add a little film called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which will open the week before.
The film will star Brad Pitt, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Julia Levy-Boeken and Bryan Cranston and is in production now.
World War Z is based on the novel by Max Brooks, the film tells the story of a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies. The book tells the story of a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission who interviews survivors from countries all over the world 10 years after the crisis to gather a first-person post-mortem on a war that obliterated every country on the map.
