Everyone has been wondering what the hell Warner Bros. was going to do with Wonder Woman and how she would be incorporated into the DC universe. After the pilot for a Wonder Woman series failed miserably and a Justice League movie in the works, the question remained how would she be introduced into this world.
Today, Deadline broke the news that the studio and director Zack Snyder have found their lady. Three time Fast and Furious star Gal Gadot has been cast as the iconic heroine and will make her first appearance in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman film alongside Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck.
The timing of this announcement does seem a bit off as we’re congratulating a Fast and Furious regular after the death of franchise staple. That being said, I do like the fact that they chose someone off the beaten path and someone who has a semi-Amazonian look to her (even though she’s Israeli). It also doesn’t hurt that she’s going to look amazing in Wonder Woman’s costume. Seems like DC is going the way Marvel went for grooming young actors for big, longtime roles.
Snyder had this to say about Gadot: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
