What’s with all the fighting? We’ve been having a lot of “versus” movies in recent years: Ninjas Vs. Zombies! Monsters Vs. Aliens! Alien Vs. Ninja! Cowboys & Aliens (heck, they just forgot the Vs.)! Hell, I even recently reported on Strippers Vs. Werewolves! If you haven’t had enough of the warfare, Deadline reports that Sony has recently purchased a spec script that includes material from the IDW comic series Zombies Vs. Robots, with none other than Michael Bay (the master of special effects destruction) as producer. Hit more for all the info we have on yet another fight film!
JT Petty (The Burrowers) has created a spec script based on the comic series titled Inherit the Earth, which will be produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs. According to Deadline, “The film focuses on a young girl who is the last survivor on earth. She is protected by a group of robots from a pack of zombies that are intelligent and evolved,” so it does have the potential to be something cool even though the title makes it sound like more of the same. I just hope that these films have something resembling a story and don’t end up as film versions of video game battle scenes, although since this is based on a comic there’s definitely a story here somewhere. Actually the series spawned a follow-up, Zombies Vs. Robots Vs. Amazons, so we have film sequel potential already!
Well, what’s the next combo you want to see square off? Gives us your best idea in the comments below — and hell, perhaps a studio will end up optioning your comment — doesn’t seem so far-fetched, huh?
