Captain America concept art poster
FINALLY, CONCEPT ART MOVIE POSTERS THAT I MUST HAVE! Straight from Comic Con come these awesome posters for the new Marvel/Paramount films, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Not only are these posters beautiful but they are bad ass as well and will make any comic book/movie junkie squeal like a teenage girl at a Jonas Brothers’ concert. Both heroes are pictured in battle doing what they do best, kicking ass and taking names. Yahoo got the exclusive posters before Comic Con unleashes its geeky mayhem on the world (wish I could be there to partake in the festivities). Check out the two new posters after the jump. ‘The Raven’ finds its new nest at Universal

the raven short film
Earlier this year a short film entitled The Raven hit the net and it blew me away (film embedded after the jump). Now granted it wasn’t the most original short, but it was a spectacle to watch. Many have compared it to Alive in Joberg, the short film which District 9 spawned from because of the style, technology and other miscellaneous details that the film incorporated into it. It looked like a film that could easily be upgraded into a full length feature and that is exactly what has just happened. Check out more details about the short after the jump and find out who could be starring in it . Read more »

The ‘City Under Siege’ Trailer is Ready to Explode in Your Face

| by Alex DiGiovanna | News, Trailers | View Comments

city under siege
The new trailer for City Under Siege was recently released and, I have to say, it has a Crank 2 superhero feel to it. The movie stars Aaron Kwok and Shu Qi, and is directed by Benny Chan. This sci-fi action film, set in Hong Kong in the year 2015 “centers on how Sunny (Kwok) accidentally gains super powers after being poisoned by biological gas. He becomes a superhero and falls in love with TV anchor Angel (Shu).” (Thanks Global Times.) This sounds like something inspried by the ninja turtles, doesn’t it? Hit the jump to watch the trailer and to find out more about City Under Siege. Read more »

Berandal poster

Iko Uwais is back in some concept footage for his upcoming prison gang film, Beranda. The film is directed and written by Gareth Huw Evans, the same guy who teamed up with Uwais in the explosive martial arts film, Merantau. I recently just watched Merantau and thought it was a great action movie that you should see if you like Tony Jaa’s stuff. It introduced me to the Silat fighting style and Indonesian movies in general ,if interested check out the review here. Check out the dark and gritty video for Berandal as well other details about the film after the jump. Read more »

Sushi Typhoon Label Launch at the NYAFF

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Miscellaneous, News | View Comments

sushi typhoon
On July 3, 2010 in NYC, Sushi Typhoon was launched at the Japan Society along with its partner, Subway Cinema, at the New York Asian Film Festival. Subway Cinema has been working with Sushi Typhoon to help bring crazy Japanese cult films to the United States and now it has finally been accomplished. The launch was amazing, funny and creative with it starting with two ninjas running into the theater from the back of the room, one being the producers and founder of Sushi Typhoon and the other being the star of the launching film Alien vs. Ninja, Masanori Mimoto. Following them came two of the directors wearing nothing but man diapers to help present Sushi Typhoon to the American audience before them. Check out the funny video after the jump and to find out more about Sushi Typhoon. Read more »

Sub Zero in the new Mortal Kombat
Now I don’t know about the rest of you all, but I have been dying for a new Mortal Kombat movie for quite some time now. With significant upgrades in technology since Annihilation, I think there is a lot of potential for a great MK movie. I recently discovered some footage for what could possibly be a new Mortal Kombat movie which includes footage of Reptile, Jax, a cool Baraka vs. Johnny Cage fight scene, and other character introductions. Check out the clip and find out more about it after the jump. Read more »

NYAFF 2010: Hong Kong and Chinese Lineups-Booyaaa!!!

| by Alex DiGiovanna | News | View Comments

New York Asian Film Festival
I’m really excited about today’s press release because it contains all of the movies coming out of China/Hong Kong that I have been dying to see. One is Little Big Soldier which is Jackie Chan’s return to a serious and well written role like in the Drunken Master series. Another big movie is the back to back uncut screenings of Red Cliff, John Woo’s most recent epics. Finally, the legendary Bruce Leung, one of the stars of Kung Fu Hustle, will be attending many of the screenings, so pack your bags and hurry down to New York in June. Check out the Hong Kong and Chinese lineups after the jump. Read more »
