Salt Early Movie Review

| by Brandon Kruter | Movie Reviews | View Comments

Salt

I was able to see an early screening of Salt yesterday, thanks to some new friends. The movie star’s Angelina Jolie and Liev Schreiber. The trailers portrayed the movie as having lots of action and involving some renewed Russia USA cold war type scenario. But it was much more than that. Check out past the jump for the full review.

Dinner For Schmucks Early Movie Review

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | View Comments

dinner for schmucks
Yesterday I attended the NY premiere of Dinner for Schmucks starring Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis. I had low expectations going into the film and thought it was going to be a piece of crap but instead I found it to be delightfully entertaining. Yes it was stupid and a bit mindless, but it was quite funny from start to finish and I wound up being impressed with some of the details of the film. Check out my review after the jump. Read more »

Inception Movie Review- It Will Blow Your Mind

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | View Comments

inception
Yesterday I got to see an advanced screening of Christopher Nolan’s mind-blowing movie, Inception. This dreamworld heist film stars Leonardo DiCaprio (The Departed), Ellen Page (Juno), Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai), Tom Hardy (Bronson), Cillian Murphy (Red Eye), Michael Caine (The Dark Knight), Lukas Haas (Alpha Dog), Tom Berenger, Marion Cotillard (Nine), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Lookout) and Pete Postlethwaite (Solomon Kane). The film’s score was also composed by Hans Zimmer.

I’m calling it right now, Nolan will win the Oscar for best original screenplay because the script is that freakin’ brilliant. I found myself engulfed by the sophistication of the film and couldn’t believe what was unfolding before my eyes. Read more »

Cell 211 Movie Review (Spain-Celda 211)

Cell 211 Celda 211
I have been waiting a while now to watch a good prison movie and one day I get a message from my friend saying, “Have you seen Celda 211? It’s an awesome movie.” I tell him “no” and then immediately IMDB it only to find out that it is an award winning Spanish movie set within the confines of a prison. Intriguing, I know. Anyway, I then read further and find out that the film is about a new prison guard who gets left in the prison after a riot breaks out and has to pretend to be a new prisoner in order to survive. This was a fresh take on the prison genre and so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to watch it. The movie, as my friend says, was rather “awesome.” So if you like good movies, and especially good prison movies, then check out my review after the jump so that you can realize it is really worth your time. PREDATORS Movie Review-The Best Predator Sequel Yet

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | View Comments

Predators 2010
Last night I wandered into an unknown jungle and came face to face with three ugly motherf*ckers. That’s right, there is more than one and that’s why they call it Predators, or is it? Director Nimród Antal brings our favorite bad ass alien back to the screen in the best Predator sequel to date…and it’s about time. The movie stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, and Lawrence Fishburne. If you like the original Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger then I don’t have to tell you to see it, you’ll just do it because of the similarities and your crazy fetish for watching badass Predators doing battle with badass humans. You may also watch it because it has a great cast and actually isn’t half bad. To find out more about Predators check out my video review after the jump. Read more »

NYAFF 2010: Merantau Movie Review (Indonesia)

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews, Trailers | View Comments

merantau iko uwais
Now I’ve recently been going through a martial arts craze and the need for me to watch high octane ass kicking has skyrocketed to the point where I’m almost willing to go out and learn how to do it myself. I want to blame Tony Jaa’s original Ong Bak for this but I think it really traces back to Jet Li in The One, just brutally destroying those little minion bitches and his evil self. Jump back to today and now the fighting style I am following is Silat Harimau thanks to Iko Uwais, the star of Merantau and the first real action movie to come out of Indonesia. So if you like explosive martial arts and guys like Jet Li, Donnie Yen, and Tony Jaa then you need to hit the jump for my review so that you can now have another star to love. Read more »
