Funny or Die has a great video about how Hollywood celebrities learn to uphold their image, or swagger, and make sure that it never goes out of wack. Mel Gibson might be able to learn something from this video. Check it out Zach Galifianakis as the grasshopper to swagger king Aziz Ansari after the jump. Read more »

‘The Raven’ finds its new nest at Universal

the raven short film
Earlier this year a short film entitled The Raven hit the net and it blew me away (film embedded after the jump). Now granted it wasn’t the most original short, but it was a spectacle to watch. Many have compared it to Alive in Joberg, the short film which District 9 spawned from because of the style, technology and other miscellaneous details that the film incorporated into it. It looked like a film that could easily be upgraded into a full length feature and that is exactly what has just happened. Check out more details about the short after the jump and find out who could be starring in it . Read more »

noboru iguchi, yoshihiro nishimura, tak sakaguchi width=
Now that I have finally got around to posting my review for Mutant Girls Squad, it is only fair that I post the ridiculoulsy fun presentation and Q & A that happened at the NYAFF before and after the film screened. Noboru Iguchi and Yoshihro Nishimura introduced and discussed Mutant Girls Squad and then after the film they came out in sumo diapers for a fun little skit and Q & A with actresses Asami (once worked in the Japanese adult film industry) and Cay Izumi (International pole dancer). If you like the Japanese and want to see how nutty and fun foreign cult film directors are, then check out the videos after the jump. Read more »

Sushi Typhoon Label Launch at the NYAFF

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Miscellaneous, News | View Comments

sushi typhoon
On July 3, 2010 in NYC, Sushi Typhoon was launched at the Japan Society along with its partner, Subway Cinema, at the New York Asian Film Festival. Subway Cinema has been working with Sushi Typhoon to help bring crazy Japanese cult films to the United States and now it has finally been accomplished. The launch was amazing, funny and creative with it starting with two ninjas running into the theater from the back of the room, one being the producers and founder of Sushi Typhoon and the other being the star of the launching film Alien vs. Ninja, Masanori Mimoto. Following them came two of the directors wearing nothing but man diapers to help present Sushi Typhoon to the American audience before them. Check out the funny video after the jump and to find out more about Sushi Typhoon. Read more »

Simon Yam in The Storm Warriors
After watching the film The Storm Warriors, Simon Yam came on stage at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center to discuss the film, his role, and a little about his acting preferences. If you don’t know Simon Yam he is one of the most famous/hottest actors in the Chinese film industry right now and is known for his roles in films like Echoes of the Rainbow (he won best actor for this), Ip Man, and Night and Fog. If you don’t know him and you like Asian films then get to know him by watching his films and checking out this discussion. If you do know him I bet you didn’t know he was a funny presenter.
